History ![]() It is our hope that part of your enjoyment while spending time at a century old farm house in a beautiful country setting known as Bluebird Farm is reflecting upon bygone days. In 1784 Christian Kintner was born in Pennsylvania. His parents were German immigrants. In 1816 Christian and his wife Elizabeth loaded their belongings into a covered wagon pulled by a team of oxen and journeyed to Ohio where they purchased a "quarter" section of land in Centre township, Carroll County, for five dollars per acre from the United States Government. On this land was a cabin of "unhewn" logs with "puncheon" floors and a "clapboard" roof. This cabin was built three years before the Village of Centreville, now know as Carrollton, was organized. It was on this homestead that Christian and Elizabeth became the parents of ten children, one of them being Jacob Kintner, born in 1824. In 1849, Jacob married Miss Louisa and they too resided in a small log cabins on the same 150 acres. It was Jacob and Miss Louisa who built what is described in the Biographical Record as a "fine brick residence" which is now Bluebird Farm.
